Green Me Global Festival

The 9th Green Me Global Festival for Sustainibility was located in Lagos, Nigeria from the 1st-3rd. of April 2016. More than 20 documentaries and movies with the focus on Ocean-Life-Water were screened at the Multiplex Cinema "Silverbird Galeria", located on Victoria Island . One of the highlights was the documentary Racing Extinction a film by Louie Psihoyos who won an Oscar for his documentary "The Cove". On the nigerian side the drama Dazzlin Mirage from Tunde Kelani, who won an Award at the Dubai International Film Festival 2012, ensured continous excitement.
Aside to the filmprogramme and the culinary specilities, Congress panels on the topics Ocean-Life-Water made it possible for the guests, to be interactive participants in the festival. All movies had the chance to win a Green Me Award in different categories, which were presented at the Award Gala.
Marketplace - The festival brought companies, organisations, institutions and NGO´s under one umbrella to represent and showcase themselves and exhibit their products and services.
Filmworkshop - As part of the festival activities, we organised a film workshop for invited film schools. The idea was for a topic to be introduced to the participating schools and the participants were expected to shoot a short film that expresses the introduced topic. The short film had to be shot and screened within the festival period. The best short film “Economy” by the Pefti Filmschool was awarded with a prize. This was designed to not only educate the students, but also to help in developing their spontaneous thinking and decision making skills. The workshop was directed by the German filmmaker Volker Langhoff.
